Brace yourself Sydney!

The weather is expected to take a wild turn today with strong winds moving across New South Wales.

Gusts of up to 110km/h are tipped to hit around lunchtime and the expected impact is not good.

Ausgrid is warning people not to go near fallen power lines with branches and storm debris likely to damage electrical equipment.

While the top temperature for Sydney today is hovering around the 17 degree mark, with the cool change and strong winds it's likely to feel more like ten degrees.

The only people who appear to be celebrating the cold snap are the snow bunnies, with the state's alpine region expecting a dumping of snow this week - right in time for the school holidays.  Thredbo alone is tipped to have more than a metre of white stuff by the end of the week.
